Ayurveda and the Mind: Philosophy and Practice for Mental Clarity

  • Down Under Yoga Brookline (map)

Join this philosophy-in-action workshop and learn practices for sustaining mental equilibrium and fostering clarity that you can take home with you!

The philosophy that underlies both Yoga and Ayurveda (Samkhya) is incredibly useful in helping students of both traditions understand more deeply the reasoning behind many of the practices and lifestyle observances. Our discussion will include the importance of the karmendriyas (organs of action) and jnanendriyas (organs of knowledge) for conscious and beneficial living, as well as Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas, the mental energies which drive us. We will use this ancient framework to observe the activity of our minds and bodies. As we understand the interplay of these universal energies, we can implement key lifestyle actions to support yogic living and reap its benefits in our daily lives.
